Three Things to Watch
- We have a busy week of economic data highlighted by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing data on Monday and the July employment report on Friday. Meanwhile, the economy is expected to have added 88,000 jobs during the month, up from 57,000 in June, while the unemployment rate is forecast to hold steady at 4.2%.
- Second-quarter earnings continue to roll in much stronger than initially forecast. With the majority of the S&P 500 having reported, 86% have posted a positive surprise with an average surprise of 31%. This week will feature reports from Palantir, Disney, Eli Lilly, Uber and American Micro Devices. SpaceX will also post its first earnings report as a public company.
