Three Things to Know & Watch

Three Things to Watch

  • Nvidia will release earnings on Wednesday after the market closes. Revenue and earnings have beaten estimates the past eight quarters and are expected to be strong again. Nvidia’s release will also be viewed for clues on the strength of the hyperscaler spending and data center growth. The options markets are priced for a strong move to the upside surrounding the report.
  • Global bond yields will be closely watched this week. Higher oil prices have led to changing global monetary policy and inflation outlooks, and bond yields are rising as a result. Yields from developed countries in Europe (France, Germany, England) as well as the United States and Japan are at the highest levels in years.
  • On the economic front, minutes from the last U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting will be released along with regional data from the Philly and Kansas City regional Feds and the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment and inflation surveys. Consumer sentiment has generally been trending lower for the past two years.

Three Things to Know

  • The S&P 500 is up 8.2% year to date in 2026. Yes, this is “about average” for most years, but here’s the thing, average isn’t so average when it comes to investing. Only four times in history has the S&P 500 gained between 8-10% for the full calendar year. (Source: Ryan Detrick)
  • Last week, the Treasury auctioned a 30-year bond with a 5% coupon for the first time since 2007. (Source: Augur Infinity)
  • The S&P 500 has never been more concentrated in a single stock than it is today with Nvidia representing over 8% of the index. (Source: Charlie Bilello)
