MY PROFESSIONAL APPROACH

Trust. When it comes to investment planning and preparing an investment approach that helps you meet your needs, it all starts with trust. However, trust doesn’t happen overnight. It develops over time in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect. This is one of the things that I have learned in my 45 years as a financial advisor.

This is also why I believe it is important to spend time with my clients and get to know them. After all, no two clients are alike and the same goes for their investment plan. When we work together, I’ll ask questions and listen to your answers. Your responses will guide us as we develop a plan that addresses your unique financial situation and tolerance for risk.

Finally, we’ll put that plan into action and meet periodically to evaluate its progress. During those meetings, we’ll also catch up on any developments that may require us to adjust our direction. For me, this is what client-first service is all about.

MY BACKGROUND

Drawn by their client-centered approach to financial services, I joined Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. in 2016 as a financial advisor when I helped open the Concord office. I began my financial services career in 1970, and I’m passionate about educating clients and helping them achieve their goals through proper planning and investment strategies.

I’m a retired Captain of the U.S. Naval Reserve, having served on active duty from 1956 to 1962 and as a reserve officer until 1986. I was awarded the Meritorious Service and China Service Medals. In addition, I participated in the Global War Game series at the Naval War College from 1983 through 2001, along with co-authoring Newport Paper #4 and authoring Newport Paper #20 both about the Global War Game series and published by the Naval War College Press.

I have served two terms in the New Hampshire House of Representatives—two terms as Chair of the City of Franklin Board of Education and was elected to the City of Concord’s School Charter Commission. I’m also a past president of the Debating Association of New England Independent Schools.

Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife, Mary, and our four adult children/step children—John, Robertson, Christopher and Julia. I also enjoy working with the St. Paul’s debate team, cooking, kayaking, reading and relaxing near Webster Lake.
